Cleaning off my external hard drive tonight, I found the following. I used to get pissed off and write things and not post them anywhere but keep them, just to blow off steam. I have no idea what set me off to write this, but it must have been something I read somewhere online. It’s dated September 6, 2007. Two months later I was in Valladolid and Akumal Bay, Mexico having a great time, so apparently it had no lasting effects . . . . (I really can’t explain why loud, aggressive atheists piss me off so much, but they do. I’m not a religious person myself. I think it’s just the arrogant intolerance, which falls over the cliff into snobbish superiority, which many of the more militant atheists display.)
Maybe I’ll post more things like this as I find them. I have a feeling there are a lot of them discarded on that particular hard drive.
This is just as I wrote it, with only 3 words corrected for spelling!
Dear Militant (liberal) Atheist,
Don’t believe in God? We don’t care. Anymore than we expect you to care if we do. In fact, we do wish you would stop caring.
You militant, obsessive atheists are finally getting on my nerves. I’ve spent the last 3 years online watching your aggressive anti-religion, intolerant movement grow and I’ve have enough of it. I don’t want to hear yet another question, “Why are atheists such jerks lately?” followed by the “terrible childhood” explanation. Or the “it’s our way of fighting back” explanation. Please don’t insult my intelligence. Your complete and utter overreaction to a tiny fraction of the fundamentalist population is mystifying and insulting, if that’s indeed what drove you over the edge. Then again, no one cares how you got this way: bitter, full of rage against religion, obsessed, accusatory, paranoid, angry and intolerant. No one cares how any asshole got that way, they just care that you’re an intolerant asshole and will avoid you. Maybe all the avoidance of you by others “not atheists’ drove you online where you obsess about your atheism hour after hour, day after day, week after week. Really, don’t you have anything else to do? You’re giving liberals a bad name, and that name is BIGOT.
Atheists are always trying to explain their positions in painful, tedious detail. Yawn. Have some self-respect and stop explaining. I don’t care why your psyche is as it is. Most of us just try to do no harm to others after the end result of years of garbage being dumped in our craniums, but we don’t make a religion out of misery and hopelessness and expect everyone else to fall in line.
You say you are for reason and logic, as though you and you alone, as an atheist, are the possessors of reason and logic. What a joke! How reasonable is it of you to spend so much time caring what others think about anything to the degree you do, when it doesn’t affect you one bit? How logical is it of you to spend so much time worrying about what others think when you can’t do anything to change it? Other people, people who believe in something, (whether it be spirits or magic or God or nature or unicorns), don’t care about your self-professed corner on the knowledge market and we really are surprised that you even notice what we’re busy believing in. We’re also nearly too busy actually reading and studying science, philosophy and politics to notice your professions of expertise on our so-called ‘mental problems’.
I’m sorry that you are so lonely and ostracized that you have to join and network with atheist clubs that primarily wallow in their own imagined mental superiority and discuss, ad nauseum, atheists books and websites. Really now, don’t you have better things to do other than to obsess over someone else’s private thoughts? People have a legal and moral right to believe what they want to believe, free of slander, insults and harassment from you.
Get on with your life and stop whining about everyone else. And stop being a bigot. No one cares what you believe or don’t believe. Your obsession about not believing in something is turning you into a big bore. Grow up and try to live among people with diverse thoughts other than those you agree with!
Minnesota Atheists — you have three nasty members who are giving you a very bad name.
I hate hypocrites, and in my experience nothing is more hypocritical than a rude, militant atheist. Especially Minnesota Atheists. (so much for Minnesota Nice — I guess that’s all for the religious and the agnostic). They are not just led by value-less, rude people, they want to convert everyone else to their own beliefs.
I don’t consider myself an “official” Christian and I’m not religious. I have beliefs of a spiritual nature that I keep private because I’m a very private person and it’s my own business. But after my recent run in with several Minnesota Atheists, (leaders and members of that group) I really, really despise them. Here’s why. For 3 months, several of them have been harassing me about a very personal matter — my ex-husband writing nasty lies about me on a blog someone else owns. Yet, these militant atheists are all into PR for their Minnesota Atheist group — trying to spread the idea that atheists are all about fun and happiness and joy. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the ones that have recently defamed me and committed libel did in fact do so with a great deal of joy but it was to destroy someone, not spread happiness. They took great delight in exposing my private information online, in ridiculing me, in writing nasty things about me, in imagining my motives, and in just getting their kicks from hoping I would suffer from what they did.
This is the behavior of “Minnesota Atheists“. They are a group that is full of claims about how they are so full of ethics, values, happiness, optimism, positiveness, emphasizing reason and science. They go to great lengths to get this propaganda about themselves out there. It’s all a lie. My ex in particular, whose name is Mike Haubrich of Minneapolis, is a militant atheist who hates religion and does in fact want to convert people to atheism. He discusses how to do that with other atheists. (Yes, mom and dad, they DO want to convert your kids.) I don’t like conversions one way or another, I think people should be left alone. Here’s some lovely proof that atheists do certainly want to convert believers into atheists. It’s from their website, today:
“The March public meeting featured local author Mike Davis speaking about how to use the Bible in discussions with Christian believers. Davis noted that most atheists steer wide of the Bible in such discussions, because they feel that they do not know it very well. Davis claimed that very few Christians have ever read the Bible critically, so pointing out contradictions can be an effective approach to undermine the Bible’s credibility.”
Duh. But there is a more sinister goal here — to convert people. The goal of Minnesota Atheists is not to leave well enough alone, not to live and let live, not to let people believe what they want — but to undermine the Bible’s credibility and take people’s faith from them. Now that’s positive atheism!
I certainly don’t think atheists should be taking peoples’ faith from people, when often it’s the only thing that gets people out of bed in the morning. For many people, religion is their meditation, their therapy. This does not meet with the approval of Minnesota Atheists. They want to control how you think and even the thoughts you have. And if you don’t have the thoughts they have, you are a hopelessly un-intelligent person, to them. Rather insulting, isn’t it? In any case, these Minnesota Atheists have 3 prominent members who make videos and radio shows to try to convince the state of Minnesota and the world that all atheists are nice and reasonable and full of ethics. You don’t need to be religious to have ethics and values, they claim.
Well, maybe you do need some beliefs in something beside yourself to at least feel threatened with possible punishment if you behave like an out of control 2-year-old. These 3 people have shown themselves to be totally without any ethics or values. They are faux intellectuals, constantly looking inward into their dismal lives for meaning. They blame this lack of meaning on “believers” and apparently on anyone who asks them to remove lies from their websites. They have attacked me personally, in public, violating my privacy. It took three of them! If this is how atheists act towards others, it’s no wonder they don’t have many converts. They have gone far outside the realm of normal human behavior because I dared to request some human decency from them. You’d think I put a fatwa or something on their little group of prosthelytizers. After the break is my recent email to the Minnesota Atheists group, asking them to investigate their own members. I will tell you what I don’t expect — a reasonable or ethical response. I have come to expect no reasonable responses from atheists in general due to this group. Their berzerk reactions to my initial request only proves what they are so busy trying to disprove — that some atheists (many? most?) lack a solid ethical framework from which to draw upon. Maybe they think they will get one of those later, after they have evolved more. Their atheism doesn’t come from a place of happiness and acceptance, it comes from rejection and despair. And their behavior reflects that.
I have already named one name and I’m going to name two others, because these people do not keep their names private online. If they did, I would not use their real names. But they don’t follow such considerations, because they’re so busy being free thinking atheists. The bottom line is that Minnesota Atheists stand for attacking people, defaming people, lying about people, illegally exposing private information about people, and trying to convert you to believe what they believe. That is what they stand for. In other words, we should reject this group and all that they stand for.
